South Africa Names IAAF World Indoor Championships Team

Supersport reports South Africa has named eight athletes to the team that will compete at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, England.

Leading the team is Luvo Manyonga, the top long jumper in 2017 and gold medal winner at the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships. He will be joined by bronze long jump medalist Ruswahl Samaai.

Wayde Van Niekerk had not shown interest in competing indoors, but his recent ACL surgery means he will be unavailable regardless.

Men

60 meters: Henricho Bruintjies, Emile Erasmus

Long jump: Luvo Manyonga, Ruswahl Samaai, Zarck Visser

Shot put: Orazio Cremona

Women

60 meters: Carina Horn

1,500/3,000 meters: Dominique Scott-Efurd
