Individual Discipline Winners of IAAF World Indoor Tour Series Given Wild Card Entries to 2018 IAAF World Indoor ChampionshipsBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor The Muller Grand Prix Birmingham Saturday concluded the 2017 IAAF World Indoor Tour. The winners of the 11 individual disciplines were awarded automatic berths in the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held in Birmingham, U.K. The four other tour meets were the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, 12. International PSD Bank Meeting Dusseldorf 2017, Indoor Meeting - Karlsruhe and the Copernicus Cup. Generally, only two athletes per country can compete at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, but these wild-card entries will mean that some countries get an additional athlete in certain events, based on the IAAF World Indoor Tour results. The final call on entries in the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships will be made by the individual national federations. There are five men and six women who have been awarded wild-card entries. Men: Pavel Maslak (CZE) - 400 meters Bethwel Birgen (KEN) - 1,500 meters Orlando Ortega (ESP) - 60-meter hurdles Donald Thomas (BAH) - high jump Godfrey Mokoena (RSA) - long jump Women: Gayon Evans (JAM) - 60-meter dash Joanna Jozwik (POL) - 800 meters Hellen Obiri (KEN) - 3,000 meters Nicole Buchler (SUI) - pole vault Patricia Mamona (POR) - triple jump Anita Marton (HUN) - shot put More news |
