Nearly US$2.5 Million at Stake in Sopot

A total of US$2,464,000 is on offer from the IAAF as prize money at this weekend's IAAF World Indoor Championships, Sopot, Poland (7-9-March).

As has become traditional, there is also a US$50,000 bonus for any athlete setting a world record during the three-day championships.

The 2014 indoor season has already produced three world indoor records*: Genzebe Dibaba ran 1500m in 3:55.17 in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 1 February and then reduced the 3000m mark to 8:16.60 in Stockholm, Sweden, five days later while Renaud Lavillenie improved the absolute pole vault world record to 6.16m in Donetsk, Ukraine, on 15 February.
